Academic Events Of October month-2018 Dept. Of English MKBU

This Blog contain the documentation of various event which we have celebrated in the month of October 2018.


1) On 2nd October special occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, so MK Bhavnagar University celebrated "Maha Safai Abhiyan" to make Clean University Green University. The students from various departments have cleaned entire university campus in which 19th students from the Dept. Of English also cleaned surrounding of University main admin building and near English Department with the co-operation of Marine science students. And we also have an online quiz on Mahatma Gandhi organized by KCG Ahemdabad.

2) On 6th October Dept of Marine Science MKBU celebrated wildlife week in which 6 students from Dept. Of English participated in various events like Elocution, essay writing, Slogan etc. Bhavnesh Mahyavansho got 4th rank in Elocution.

3) On 13th October Celebration committee organized special day of Navratri in the Department. All students and faculties have played different steps of Garba entire day.

4) On 16th October Students of Dept. Of English attended Ph.D viva of the research scholar Dr. Pushpa Dixit Bhatt under the guidance of Dr. Hetal Mehta ma'am Principal of SSCCM.

5) On 23rd October students of English dept have attended the Ph.D  viva of Miss Foram Parmar on Feminism.

6) We had three days 26th 27th and 28th October Youth Festival in our MK Bhavnagar University "Aeshvaryam Yuva Mnathan" organized by Takshshila institute of science and commerce. In which more than 20 students participated in various events and also got prize in Western group and Western single song events and in Rangoli .

7) On 31st October  the students of Dept of English attended flower offering ceremony to Sardar Patel's statue by university's vice chancellor Girish Bhai Patel at Uni Campus on his 143rd Birth anniversary.

Academic events of September 2018- Department of English MKBU

1) Teacher's Day: 5th September

On 5th September we have celebrated Teacher's day and total 16 students participated as a teachers of the day. They taught in Sem 1 and Sem 3 class. Some of them also give lectures in both the classes.

2) International conference on Globalization, Literature & Culture: 5-9 September

On 5th there is International conference at Pune  where many students of our Department went to present their research paper. From Sem 3 two students Nirali Dungrani and Ramiz Solanki went to present their research topic individually. From Sem 1 student only one Karan Pandya present his research paper. Two former students Namrataba Zala and Alpa Ponda also participated with their research paper in this conference. From research scholars Vaidehi Hariyani, Ahuti Dhandhukiya and Hirva Vora presented their research paper.

3) Special Daily Schedule about LGBT: 7th September

On 7th September Reena Khasatiya presented her views about the Judgement of Supreme  court on LGBT.

4) We had guest lecturer Balaji Ranganathan sir from CUG Gandhinagar on 14h, 15th and 16th September on Postcolonial Studies. He dealt with "Orientalism", "Imaginary Homeland" and "White Skin Black Mask" and also on 15th september he took lecture on Net/Set preparation.

7) on 23rd September MK Bhavnagar University organized GPSC workshop and Inauguration of Atal Auditorium at Atal Auditorium in MKBU. Total 30 students from the dept. Of English attended this workshop.

8) on 26th September six students and H.O.D Of the dept. Of English Dr.Dilip Barad took part in Tennis in Khelmahakumbh 2018 at Soprts Complex Bhavnagar in which Dr.Dilip Barad sir won final in both Single man and double events.

Academic events of August 2018- Department of English MKBU

1) Gardening day: 6 & 7 august

On 6th and 7th August Gardening Committee leaders organized Gardening day. On 6th we have cleaned the surrounding and on 7th sem1 and sem3 students  planted a memory trees.

2) University sports competition: 6 & 7 August

 Students of Dept. Of English got 4th position in Lawn Tennis and 3rd in Squash competition. Abul Abedi and Vipul Dabhi selected for inter university National game.

3) NAAC Peer team visit: 9-11 August

On 9th august a group of students went to old court hall to attend cultural showcasing with NAAC peer team. On 10th august group of students went to new court hall to interact with NAAC peer team along with their parents.

4) Independence day: 15 August

The day begins with flag hoisting at Admin building. Vice chancellor Shailesh sinh Zala sir hoisted flag. There are other performance also.

On 15th august we have also watched film "Laggan" and both semester students posted their blog on the film review.

8) Swimming Competition at Nilam baug: 20 August

Two students of our English Department  participated in Swimming Competition: Kavitaba Gohil and Abul Abedi. The venue is Nilambaug circle, Bhavangar. To know more about it click here

9) Film Screening: To the Lighthouse (24th, 25th august)

All Sem 3 students have watched "To The Lighthouse" at 24th and 25th August.

10) Sports Day :29th August

On 29th August we have celebrated national sports day. All students of Sem 1 and Sem 3 participated in many games like cricket, lone tennis, table tennis, squash etc and shown their skill. Their is also one new and unique game introduced by Hetal Dabhi (Sem 1) Sepak Takraw.  To know more about it click below

Academic Events of July 2018- Dept. Of English MKBU

This Blog is about the Documentation of the various events which were celebrated in the month of  July 2018.

1) 1st July we had movie screening of two movies "The Modern Time" and  "The Great Dictator"  by Charlie Chaplin. These movies are very important to understand the background of The Modern Age and its influence in the Modern Literature.

2) On 2nd July, we have attended PhD viva of research scholar Shagufta H. Thakor on the topic Dalit Autobiographies: A critical study of Sharankumar Limbale's "Akkarmasi", Omprakash valmiki's "Joothan" and Dr. Narendra Jadhav's "Outcaste- A memoir".

3) 9th July, we had 1st introductory Visit to the Central library of MK Bhavnagar University. As per the tradition of the Department Of English, all students from sem-1 and sem-3 go to the library and collect the books related to their syllabus.

4)  On 11th July, Vaidehi ma'am took lecture in the lap of the nature and given the task to students to write instant poetry on nature.

5) On 13th July Daily Schedule committee leaders organized 1st Blood Donation camp at The Dept. Of English MKBU. Total 21st students from Department have donated their blood with The H.O.D of the Dept Dr. Dilip Barad sir who was the inspiration behind this camp because he himself donated blood 54th  time and also some parents took part and donated their blood

6) On 15th July, we had movie screening of the American children's fantasy comedy movie "Matilda." This movie is part of our ELT paper in which Vaidehi Hariyani ma'am shown us this movie and give a task to write your favorite book along with the movie review.

7) 18th July, we had the welcome function for new comers. As per the Tradition of our department, there were two session, the morning session we had special guest and motivational speaker Dr. Jay Badiyani from the MBA department after this speech sem-3 students presented their presentation about the tradition of the English Department. In second session Seniors student played various activities with juniors.

8) 21st July, Art and Creativity committee organized Rangoli Competition in which many students participated and drew beautiful Rangoli and the theme of the Rangoli was about the Guru for the special occasion of Gurupurnima.

9) 23rd July students from the Dept. of English attended the publication of literary books organized by Bhavnagar Gadhya sabha at Shamaldas Arts College. The program was about the metaphor of "Train" in Indian Culture for that Dr. Dilip Barad sir From the English Department gave a wonderful speech about the metaphor of Train and also there were many literary scholar attended the program.

10) On 26 July Dr.Dilip Barad sir arranged a talk with the motivational speaker Himal Pandya sir  who is associate dean at GTU and poet as well. The theme of the talk was about "Zindagi na Milengi Dobara" and the idea of YOLO(you only live once).

11) Dept of English celebrated Gurupurnima on 27th July in which students as well as teacher talked about the what is Guru and what is the importance of the Guru in our life.

Many students participated in various competitions like Rangoli, essay writing, photography etc. Documentation committee has made booklet in which all the participants along with their creative work are mentioned.

12) On 28th, 29th and 30th July, we had very special and very long days of ICT Workshop. As we all know that The Department Of English MK Bhavnagar University is one of the digitize and techno friendly Department among the others Department of MK Bhavnagar University. On 28th and 29th sem-3 students has taught about the technology to the juniors and on 30th July students from various Department came to get knowledge about online platform for study.

On 14th June we have given farewell to our clerk Jadeja sir who is getting retired this year because of age limit. He has worked with honesty and serving from many years in our department.

2. International Yoga Day: 21st June

On 21st June, we have celebrated the International Yoga Day with Dilip barad sir and Yoginiba Chudasama mam. Before three days of Yoga we had Yoga classes instructed by Yoginiba mam. It was really very healthy session and many students performed typical Yogaasan like Shirsaasan, Chakrasan, Dhanuraasan etc.

Hello Readers,

                        This blog has created with the purpose of sharing work and information regarding Documentation Committee of Smt. S. B. Gardi Department of English MK Bhavnagar University.

                 Documentation Committee

"Documentation is an important aspect of accountability which not only provides a record of the work being done but also recognizes efforts and reinforce the system"

                                                                         

           *Importance of Documentation*

General meaning of Documentation is a 'Material which provides official information and evidence and serves as a record'. In any field there should be documentation. Which keeps the event alive for longer period of time. If history is not documented very well by someone then perhaps we do not have the knowledge about it.

"If it is not in writing, it didn't happen". People would not believe in your words if do not document the things properly, for example if you tell your friends that I have done this thing but they do not believe and ask proof like today's screenshot. So, proof is much important to be trustworthy. One should cultivate the habit of document like Western people who always with Pen, dairy and camera. History depends on Document, through the document we can live our history.

*Function of Documentation Committee in Dept of English MKBU*

Our Department is the Hub of academic events and activities.  Documentation committee is connected with all committees of the Department we can say that the Documentation committee is the mother of all committees because  it's prime duty of Documentation committee to collect the document of various events from all committees and prepare the report of each events at the end of the year.

We have Twelve different committees which take care of academic as well as non-academic events. Each committee contains two leaders to guide the members for betterment of events, the Leaders are from seniors and juniors can be the member of committee.
